Beacon Rock
Beacon Rock State Park lies on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge and is a hidden gem of climbing just 45 minutes from Portland! The rock feature rises over 800’ above the river, and offers a wide variety of climbing from hard crack climbing pitches to long moderate multi-pitch routes that feel like they belong deep in the North Cascades. The SE Corner (5.7, 6 pitches) is a classic route and a must-do climb for any local climber or adventurer coming through the Pacific Northwest. This route and others on the South Face of Beacon Rock are accessible after July 15 due to peregrine falcon nesting closures earlier in the season.
More experienced climbers can try their hand at Pleasure Cruise (5.9, 8 pitches) or jam their hands, fingers, and feet into any number of harder crack climbs. Routes on the West and Northwest Faces of Beacon Rock are accessible year-round.
