Location

This course is the perfect introduction to the wonderful world of outdoor rock climbing. Learn a new skill in the beautiful outdoors with one of our professional instructors. It’s the perfect family and friends outing as well as a great opportunity to learn all the necessary skills to pass a top-rope belay test. Our guides will encourage you to challenge your comfort zone, but it's up to you to accept the challenge. Take your next Saturday off and spend it climbing real rock with Kaf. When you’re done, congratulate yourself for breaking through the barriers!

Meet your climbing instructor at 8am and hike to the climbing site.

In the morning you will learn about the equipment, knots, and skills required for outdoor rock climbing.  You will learn how to put on a harness, tie a figure-8 follow through, belay with an ATC, and communicate as a member of a climbing team.

After a lunch break, you will spend the afternoon refining your climbing technique on the rock and reinforcing the skills you learned in the morning.

You can expect to be back to the parking lot around 4pm.

  • Any climbing experience will enhance your ability to learn, but is not required.
  • Ability to be moderately active for a full day.
  • Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email full of important information - make sure to read it thoroughly!
  • 3-5 days before your course you will receive an email from your guide containing even more details, including the exact meetup location and time.
  • Leading up to your course, make sure to eat healthy, drink extra water, and get plenty of sleep.
  • Please arrive on time and ready to go at your pre-arranged meeting location. To get the most of our day, we'd like to begin right at the designated start time.
  • All along the way, our office team is available via email or phone to answer any questions you may have.

  • Proper fitting of a harness and helmet.
  • Parts of climbing shoes and pros and cons of different designs.
  • How to tie-in with a figure-eight follow-through.
  • Top-rope belay technique with a belay device.
  • Catching a top-rope fall.
  • Lowering a climber safely.
  • Clear and safe communication.
  • Basic climbing movement and techniques in vertical terrain.
